Jewelry Care

Jewelry Care is based on the type of metal used to make each piece. However, it is also important to note that each person has a unique chemical makeup therefore, may cause different items to wear differently. If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to send us a message! You can message us directly from our page by clicking the icon "Message Us."

Gold or Silver Tone: This means it is made out of a base metal with gold or silver coloring. It is not plated. You should keep this jewelry away from any liquids and harsh chemicals, such as lotions and perfumes, wipe clean with a dry cloth after each wear, and store in a dry place away from the elements.

Gold plated: This means there is a thin layer of gold plated over a base metal, generally brass. You should keep this jewelry away from any liquids and harsh chemicals, such as lotions and perfumes, wipe clean with a dry cloth after each wear, and store in a dry place away from the elements.

Vermeil or Gold Plated Over Sterling Silver: This means there is a thin layer of gold plated over sterling silver as the underlying metal. Vermeil can get wet, but not for an extended period of time, so it is not recommended to shower or swim with these pieces. It is also recommended that you keep this jewelry away from harsh chemicals such as lotions and perfumes, wipe clean with a dry cloth after each wear, and store in a dry place away from the elements.

Gold filled: This means there is a much thicker layer of gold plated or bonded to a base metal. Because of the thicker layer of gold, gold-filled pieces can withstand the elements much better and can hold their color for up to years. The brilliance of the gold may fade over time, but the gold color will not. You can shower, swim, and workout with gold filled pieces. It is recommended to wipe clean with a dry cloth after each wear and store in a dry place away from the elements.

Gold Plated Over Stainless Steel: This means that there is a thicker layer of gold plated over stainless steel, which is extremely resilient. These pieces can withstand showering, swimming, sweating, etc. It is recommended to wipe clean with a dry cloth after each wear and store in a dry place away from the elements. Please note, some stainless steel may contain traces of nickel. Our stainless steel pieces are said to be hypoallergenic. However, if you have a strong allergy to nickel we would recommend trying a piece first to make sure you don’t have an allergy to it.

* If the metal type is not specified in the description, generally it is because it is gold toned. Please send me a message with any questions!
